Jakub Kuchař

Jakub Kuchař — Certified clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist

I offer a safe and confidential space for those seeking more than quick or superficial solutions and wishing to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their life path.

I am Jakub Kuchař, a clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist with over ten years of clinical experience. My private practice is located in Prague 7, at Dukelských hrdinů 35.

People often come to my practice experiencing inner dissatisfaction – often even despite external success. They struggle with recurring relationship issues or feel that something is holding them back from living as authentically and fully as they would like.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy: The path to deeper self-knowledge and inner freedom

I chose this form of psychotherapy because of its depth and richness, and its capacity to go beyond surface symptoms and address the roots of psychological difficulties, often hidden in unconscious patterns of thinking, feeling, and behavior. It is not a quick fix or a set of instructions for how to live, but a systematic and collaborative process leading to deeper self-understanding, lasting change, and greater inner freedom.

A higher frequency of sessions (at the moment, I only offer psychoanalysis four times a week) allows for the establishment of a stable therapeutic framework that supports work beneath the surface of everyday concerns. Within this framework, deeper themes and challenging experiences that shape your inner life and relationships can emerge more safely and be worked through. The aim is not only relief from distress, but also understanding its meaning and fostering inner change.

My qualifications and experience

I am a clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist with extensive clinical experience. I gained much of this experience during my long-term work at the Horní Palata psychotherapeutic sanatorium, where I worked with clients facing a wide range of psychological difficulties. I completed comprehensive training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Czech Psychoanalytic Society, a component society of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), and I adhere to its ethical standards. Alongside my clinical work, I maintain an academic appointment at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, where I teach and conduct research. I also publish articles intended for both professional and general audiences.
